What does “elemental” calcium mean?

Elemental calcium is the usable part of the calcium. Each caplet contains 600 mg of elemental calcium.

Will I get the same benefit from Posture-D® if I cut or crush the caplets?

Yes. If you have difficulty swallowing caplets, you can cut or crush Posture-D®.

What is the best way to take Posture-D® for maximum absorption?

Take Posture-D® with food for maximum absorption.

Can I take Posture-D® with an iron supplement?

Since calcium interferes with the absorption of iron, it’s best to take your Posture-D® at least one hour apart from your iron supplement.

Should I take both of the Posture-D® caplets at the same time, or separately?

There may be some benefit to taking the caplets separately (e.g., one in the morning and one in the evening) because your body may absorb more this way.

Why do you use tricalcium phosphate in Posture-D®?

Tricalcium phosphate is used in the Posture® line because it is generally less gas-producing than other forms of calcium. Tricalcium phosphate is mined calcium. It is not from bone or shellfish.

Can you tell me how tricalcium phosphate is absorbed compared to other forms of calcium, such as calcium citrate?

Many factors influence the absorption of calcium, such as, the presence of vitamin D, phosphorus, the amount of calcium per caplet, and the presence of other minerals (e.g., iron decreases the absorption of calcium and magnesium increases the absorption). Calcium phosphate delivers both calcium and phosphorus. Both calcium phosphate and calcium citrate are good at being absorbed into the blood stream; however, phosphorus helps calcium to get absorbed into the bone. Phosphorus is very important for maintaining healthy bones. Recent studies show that as many as 50 million American women do not get adequate amounts of phosphorus in their diet. (Note: Posture® is the only major calcium brand that delivers both calcium and phosphorus. Posture-D® is unique in that it delivers vitamin D, in addition to calcium and phosphorus, which also enhances its absorption.)

Where is the carnauba wax derived from in Posture-D®?

The carnauba wax is obtained naturally, from the leaf buds and leaves of the Brazilian carnauba palm.

How should I store Posture-D®?

Store your Posture-D® in a closed container, at room temperature, between 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit for stability purposes, and keep out of reach of children.
